Job summary

The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking a qualified Vegetation Management Inspector to oversee inspection and quality control of drainage and channel maintenance projects. You will work with outside contractors to assess turf establishment, mowing, debris removal, selective clearing, tree planting, and hazardous tree removal.

Essential duties include field inspections of channels and basins, measuring contractor quantities for payments, and maintaining daily records.

Qualifications

• Requires 1 year of verifiable experience in vegetation management, construction inspection, and/or landscape installation.
• Five (5) years’ experience in project management, business, or a similar field.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the District infrastructure (channels, detention basins, buy-out lots) for maintenance needs.
• Measure, calculate, and verify contract quantities completed by the contractor for payment.
• Maintain daily records of work performed by contractors.
• Complete project work orders and schedule contract work.
• Complete daily status reports, project reports, and contractor work schedules.
• Schedule and conduct meetings with contractor representatives.
• Prepare invoice estimates for monthly contractor payments.
• Prepare correspondence and maintain records and files.
