Job summary

The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking a Vegetation Management Inspector to oversee inspection and quality control of drainage and channel maintenance projects. You will coordinate with outside contractors to inspect streams and bayous, verifying maintenance needs such as turf establishment, mowing, debris removal, and tree work.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school graduate or equivalent.
• 1 year of verifiable experience in vegetation management, construction inspection, and/or landscape installation.
• Bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field is preferred, or five years’ experience in project management or a related field.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the District’s infrastructure such as channels and detention basins for maintenance needs.
• Measure, calculate, and verify contract quantities completed by the contractor for payment.
• Maintain daily records of contractor work.
• Complete project work orders and schedule contract work.
• Prepare invoice estimates for monthly contractor payments.
• Prepare correspondence and maintain records and files.
• Adapt to evolving demands and objectives of the District.
