Job summary

Mi-Tech, part of the Michels Family of Companies, seeks a Utility Construction Inspector to monitor gas, electric, telecom, and municipal projects across multiple locations. The role emphasizes safety, compliance with plans, and ensuring project quality for infrastructure built to specifications.

Applicants should be capable of reading maps and plans, navigating daily site locations, and leveraging mobile reporting tools.

Qualifications

Experience or knowledge in natural gas, electric, telecommunications, or municipal utility construction is preferred, but not required.
Strong understanding of utility safety practices, excavation standards, and damage prevention requirements.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility maps.
Comfortable working independently in the field and navigating multiple locations daily.
Proficient with mobile technology and electronic reporting systems such as ArcGIS Survey123 and/or Field Maps is preferred, but not required.
Experience with GPS instruments such as Trimble and/or Topcon preferred, but not required.
Willing to travel statewide.

Responsibilities

Inspecting and monitoring utility construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and standards.
Serve as a third-party representative of the utility or facility owner.
Protect public safety, infrastructure integrity, and project quality through diligent oversight.
