Job summary

The City of Pleasanton, CA is seeking a Utilities System Operator II to support water distribution and sewer collection systems. You’ll perform maintenance, inspections, and responsive work across pumps, meters, and telemetry systems while ensuring safety and reliability for the community.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on field experience, strong teamwork and customer service skills, and licenses in water distribution/treatment as required by California regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be experienced in operation and maintenance of water/wastewater systems.
• Knowledge of pump and motor parts, valves, flow mechanics, and safe practices.
• Familiar with regulations governing public water distribution and sewer systems.
• Ability to read safety manuals, equipment manuals, maps, blueprints, and schematics.
• Able to troubleshoot pumping and control systems and operate related control equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist in repair of water and sewer mains and services.
• Monitor daily operation of pump stations and wells.
• Maintain pumps, motors, valves, meters and related equipment.
• Operate telemetry and computer-controlled systems for monitoring utilities.
• Set up traffic control around work areas and assist with sewer inspections.
