Job summary

Caltrans is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician (Traveling and Field) in Placer County. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a variety of fleet equipment used by the Department, with occasional field assignments and shop work.

A valid California CDL and a class C license are required, and a drug screen will be conducted prior to hire. Permanent intermittent positions may require up to 1,500 hours annually, with work location in Placer County and in-office telework

Qualifications

• Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required.

• Ability to work in field environments and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, repair and service fleet equipment used by Caltrans.
• Complete records and reports and use computer equipment for tasks.
• May supervise helpers, apprentices or other staff and work in field or shop environments.
