Job summary

Caltrans is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to service and repair fleet equipment in Amador County, with potential traveling/field assignments. You will diagnose, repair and maintain a variety of equipment used by the Department, and you may supervise helpers or apprentices.

The role requires a valid California Class C driver's license, ability to work outdoors in extreme weather, and compliance with PPE and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid California Driver License (CDL).
• Drug screening required prior to hire.
• Possession of a valid and unrestricted Class C driver’s license.
• A valid and unrestricted Class C license required when operating state-owned or leased vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and service various fleet equipment types used by the department.
• Complete records and reports; use computer equipment for tasks.
• Instruct or direct helpers, apprentices or other employees as needed.
• May be assigned to Resident/Field, Traveling/Roving coverage; travel to field locations.
