Job summary

State of California, Department of Transportation, seeks a Heavy Equipment Technician (Shop) to repair and service a variety of fleet equipment in an in-office setting at San Bernardino. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, and prepare records with computer tools.

The role may require traveling to field locations or other shops; a valid California driver license is required and a drug screening will be conducted before hiring.

Qualifications

• Must be able to diagnose and repair heavy equipment.
• Experience maintaining fleet equipment and safety practices.
• Ability to follow procedures and complete records.

Responsibilities

• Construct, inspect, diagnose, repair, and service fleet equipment used by the Department.
• Complete records and reports; use computers for various tasks.
• May instruct or direct helpers, apprentices, or other employees.
• Primary work location is the main shop or a sub shop; support may be needed at field sites.
