Job summary

The Georgia Department of Transportation in Tifton seeks an Transportation Specialist I to support OMAT testing and field sampling across district projects.

Under supervision, you will supervise field technicians, ensure timely sampling and testing, review field reports, and train staff on testing procedures. A background in roadway materials and basic math is preferred, with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or
• Associate's degree in a related field or
• One (1) year of experience at position equivalent
• Experience as a lead worker or supervisor directing, evaluating work, training, developing and/or coaching subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision, supervise and direct the sampling and testing of materials in the assigned district.
• Ensure that all testing and sampling needs are met by field technicians on assigned projects.
• Maintain high level of knowledge in field sampling and testing procedures.
• Review all field reports submitted and verify accuracy and completion before distribution.
• Train and evaluate technicians on testing and sampling of roadway materials.
