Job summary

Pike Electric, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Transmission Equipment Operator to assist in constructing, maintaining, and repairing electrical transmission systems. The role involves work at various site locations and occasional travel to other states to meet customer demands.

You will support with overhead line work, operate basic equipment, and follow safety procedures. Candidates should be able to lift 50 lbs, read English, and adapt to outdoor conditions and changing schedules.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience.
• Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.
• A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Able to work outside in various locations, and in different weather conditions.
• Willing to work overtime including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
• Stringing overhead wire.
• Setting poles and anchors.
• Assists with installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches and switchgear.
• Assists in replacing fuses in transformers and clears faulted circuits and systems.
• Capable of working with energized high voltage systems with safety.
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
• Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
