Job summary

Sungrow is seeking a Medium Voltage Transformer (MVT) Engineer to join its Service Department in Houston, TX. The role focuses on applying electrical engineering theory, performing transformer diagnostics, and conducting root-cause analyses while working with field teams and customers.

Responsibilities include problem solving, documenting tests and repairs, and providing training to team members. Travel up to 50% is expected, with no visa sponsorship offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 3+ years overall experience with liquid filled and/or dry-type transformers.
• Experience performing Power Factor, Insulation Resistance, and Dissolved Gas Analysis testing.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and analyze transformers and components in the field.
• Utilize IEEE, NETA, NEC, and UL standards for testing and safety procedures.
• Prepare and maintain reports detailing tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
• Coordinate with HQ and OEMs to investigate design issues and perform RCA.
