Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company seeks an Electrical/Mechanical Tooling Technician II to support HQ and field operations at the Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. You will handle equipment maintenance, testing, and readiness, growing into a technical lead coordinating personnel and resources during field deployments.

The role requires 12-hour shifts on site, up to 40% travel, and the ability to work in hazardous and radiological environments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years or prior relevant experience in mechanical, electrical, electronic, maintenance, field service, or similar technical work.
• Obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant and meet requirements associated with working with hazardous materials.
• Ability to travel during spring and fall field seasons for potentially extended periods.
• On-site work may require 12-hour shifts, 6–7 days per week during site assignments.
• Physical requirements: lift 50–60 lbs, climb ladders, work in industrial and radiological environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform and coordinate service center activities including equipment maintenance, checkout, calibration, packing, decontamination, and shipment preparation.
• Review equipment specifications, procedures, and drawings to determine tooling, materials, and sequence of operations.
• Perform equipment modifications, setup, testing, mock-up preparation, and qualifications; take ownership of equipment through preparation, troubleshooting, and readiness verification.
• Document equipment performance issues and coordinate corrective actions; communicate status, risks, and readiness concerns to partners.
• Support field project planning by identifying equipment, maintenance, material, and resource requirements and tracking readiness activities.
• Lead secondary projects focused on improving equipment reliability, maintenance processes, tooling readiness, documentation, and service efficiency.
• Participate in performance-based training to maintain required certifications and expand technical knowledge; train less-experienced technicians.
• Participate in required safety training and maintain skills to work in hazardous, industrial, and radiological environments.
• Apply Human Performance Tools, INPO principles, Industrial Health & Safety, ALARA principles, Nuclear Safety Culture, security requirements; contribute observations and improvement opportunities in shop and field environments.
• Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot field service equipment including NDE technology, robotic systems, computer networks, and complex tooling systems.
• Be a task or team lead when assigned, coordinating personnel, equipment, work activities, and issue resolution during field execution.
• Communicate field work status, equipment issues, emerging risks, and resource needs to Maintenance leadership and supporting organizations.
