Job summary

Axon seeks a Sr. Product Safety & Compliance Engineer to own safety and regulatory integrity for our product portfolio from design through production.

You will guide MIL-STD-882 hazard analyses, ensure UL/NFPA 70E compliance, and collaborate with design, operations, and regulatory bodies to embed safety from the early design stage. The role emphasizes lab safety oversight, high voltage procedures, LOTO, and documentation for certification submittals, with in-person collaboration at our Sterling,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in product safety compliance for high voltage electromechanical systems (commercial and defense).
• Deep familiarity with MIL-STD-882 system safety and hazard analysis.
• Working knowledge of UL standards for high voltage/industrial products (UL 508A, UL 840).
• Understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 general industry standards and NFPA 70E relationships.
• Experience managing lab and manufacturing safety programs with LOTO and PPE.
• Familiarity with MIL-STDs (810/461) and MIL-HDBK-217 derating.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• CSP and/or CFSE designation strongly preferred.
• Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the authoritative voice on safety and performance standards across MIL-SPEC and commercial frameworks for product design.
• Lead system safety analyses including hazard identification and risk mitigation per MIL-STD-882.
• Collaborate with design teams to embed safety and compliance early in development.
• Own regulatory compliance roadmap including UL certification processes where applicable.
• Oversee lab and manufacturing safety programs, including high voltage work procedures and LOTO compliance.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders across domestic and international programs.
• Document safety analyses and design explanations for reviews and submittals.
• Build scalable safety processes and training for the broader team.
