A Day in the Life:

The Field Technician – Real Time Air Specialty Monitoring Systems is responsible for supporting installations, operating, maintaining, and basic troubleshooting state of the art air monitoring systems. These skills combined with specific knowledge of the air quality monitoring regulations, methods and procedures to produce and report results from the air quality monitoring systems. The following list of duties are the responsibility of the field technician.

  • Responsible for understanding field data acquisition principles.
  • Responsible for calibration and repair of environmental monitoring instrumentation
  • Responsible for maintaining both client and Montrose owned field equipment in working order.
  • Complete comprehensive Job Safety Analysis at job location
  • Maintain and use all required PPE
  • Perform and document calibration of monitoring instrument as required
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on systems
  • Document all data validation activities (e.g., deletions, edits, calibration factors, instrument repair, audits)
  • Print and review all raw data immediately upon receipt from the field and pass on to project management/supervisor
  • Perform any other duties assigned by client or manager(s)
  • Participate in training for career development, safety and maintaining required certifications
  • Conduct and support client engagement activities to strengthen our relationships with our clients and increase our understanding of their needs

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor degree with Emphasis in Physical science (Chemistry, biology, physics etc.) or related field. (preferred)

Years of Experience:

  • 0-2+ years of industry experience preferred

Systems:

  • Proficient with Google and Microsoft office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with Workday preferred
  • Experience with Environmental monitoring software preferred

Safety/Drug Screening:

  • Capability to pass both background checks and periodic drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights
  • Ability to work out in field conditions.

Travel:

  • Ability/willingness for overnight and local travel for multi-weekday projects between 40%-60% of the time or more. Limited weekend travel or work may be required for a few projects during the year.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 75-90% of the time, both domestically and internationally as needed.

  • While performing the duties of this job, this position may require the individual to work rotating shifts assignments, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Standby and on-call duty is required, and the individual must be able to respond to the facility within one day. Some shifts will require working alone
  • Must have the ability to lift 50-60 pounds using Company provided equipment
  • Must have ability to work in remote and/or adverse environmental conditions
