Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a field-focused inspector to support utility pole inspection and system hardening projects in California. You will document field activities, coordinate crews, and ensure safety and compliance using ArcGIS Survey123 and Field Maps.

You will travel across rural and remote areas, file permits, communicate with homeowners, utility representatives, and project management, and help drive project progress over a three-month term.

Qualifications

• Experience using ArcGIS Survey123 and Field Maps for field documentation.
• Ability to file and coordinate UFA construction permits.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Comfort communicating with homeowners and property owners in the field.
• Ability to coordinate and direct construction crews.
• Familiarity with construction equipment and activities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple field assignments.
• Ability to safely drive in rural and remote areas and navigate varying road conditions.
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors and travel throughout assigned project regions.
• Experience in utility, vegetation management, construction, or utility infrastructure projects preferred.
• Experience around utility poles or electric utility rights-of-way preferred.
• Familiarity with utility permitting and construction processes preferred.
• Field inspection or quality-control experience preferred.
• Experience coordinating contractors or construction crews preferred.
• Negative pre-employment drug screening required after conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Support utility pole inspection and system hardening activities in the field.
• File and coordinate construction permits as required for project work.
• Contact homeowners and property owners to coordinate access and construction activities.
• Coordinate and schedule construction crews to complete pole hardening work.
• Provide crews with the information and direction needed to complete assigned work.
• Perform field audits and inspections of completed work to verify quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Document field activities, project progress, and completed work using Survey123 and ArcGIS Field Maps.
• Travel throughout assigned project areas, including rural and remote locations.
• Communicate with homeowners, construction crews, utility representatives, and project management.
• Identify field issues and coordinate solutions to keep work progressing safely and efficiently.
• Support installation of system hardening measures around utility poles, including work within an 11-foot radius, placement and pouring of road material, and treatment of surrounding areas.
• Work independently in rural and remote areas during the projected 3-month project.
