Job Summary:

This position is responsible for repairing construction machines, component assemblies, and parts in the shop and field. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, ordering parts, writing technical reports, warranty reporting, maintaining company assets, and effective communication with team members.

Responsibilities:

1. Repair equipment and components, including:

1. Developing a repair plan and sequence
2. Determining necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
3. Performing repairs properly and safely, with quality assurance testing of the repaired component, system, or machine

• Maintain and complete all reports accurately and timely for parts ordering, tooling usage, daily service, and work order closure
• Communicate repair progress with supervisor as required
• Retrieve and return parts and materials through the company’s parts ordering system
• Manage special tools through the company’s Tool Room, ensuring proper care and use of tools and major shop equipment
• Use company vehicle, service truck, and fuel cards responsibly
• Keep work area and service vehicle clean and safe
• Maintain tools and tool carriers properly
• Follow all company policies and safety guidelines
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager

Education, Experience, Skills:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. An Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or four (4) years of apprenticeship experience is preferred. Technician classification depends on experience, knowledge, and competence.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for handling and feeling. Also, required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment:

Frequently exposed to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, weather extremes, and vibration. Noise level is moderate to loud.
