Job summary

Halter is seeking a Junior Field Technician to support our collar fleet across farms in New Zealand. You’ll be the on-the-ground link to the engineering team, ensuring collars reach the right farms, are tracked accurately, and returned to HQ when needed.

The role involves driving between farms and being away from home up to 2–3 nights weekly. This fixed-term position requires a proactive, upbeat mindset and willingness to work in a dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• NZ Class 1 driver’s license required; expect to clock serious km.
• On-farm experience is a plus, especially beef or dairy.
• You will interact with farmers; communication is key.
• Physically demanding field work; must be fit.
• Dependable, punctual and take ownership of your schedule.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily travel and use route optimization to visit farms efficiently.
• Drive between farms to service collars and collect data.
• Manage collar stock on customer farms and ensure accuracy.
• Dispatch urgent spare collars to farms as needed.
• Ship collars back to AKL HQ and maintain smooth logistics.
• Conduct hardware audits and field trials on customer farms.
• Be the positive, professional Halter representative on-farm.
