Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Field Technician II to maintain and operate generators, HVAC, and telecom site infrastructure. You will read and interpret plans, draft field sketches in AutoCAD, and contribute to safe, high-quality installations.

This role requires hands-on work, flexibility for travel, and strong teamwork. A technical background and 2+ years in construction are preferred; long-term projects and weekend work may be needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years general construction experience; cell tower experience preferred
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• High school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred
• Experience on AT&T or Verizon Wireless networks
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work up to 12 hours
• Willingness to travel and work weekends/nights as required
• Safety-focused with strong attention to quality

Responsibilities

• Provide support in maintenance and operation of generators, HVAC, and telecom site infrastructure
• Read customer detail plans and prepare field sketches using AutoCAD
• Lead crews when foreman is unavailable; read and interpret drawings
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA)
• Travel extensively as work demands
• Update equipment records and installation specifications to document as-built conditions

Responsibilities

As a Field Technician II, you are responsible for providing support in the maintenance and operation of generators, HVAC, and telecommunication site infrastructures. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Work with minimal supervision
• Read and understand a customer detail plan
• Have a labor-intensive attitude
• Provide superior customer service while ensuring all essential job functions are performed in a timely, efficient, accurate, and safe manner
• Adhere to all company and industry standards/regulations (OSHA, etc.)
• Prepare drawings of field sketches using AutoCAD
• Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design requirements related to telecommunications, commercial, residential, and light industrial applications
• Conduct due diligence for multiple projects prior to fieldwork
• Review peer work product
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 2+ years of general construction experience preferred; some cell tower industry experience highly preferred

• Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver's license, and have a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle
• High school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred
• Experience on AT&T or Verizon Wireless Networks
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to operate aerial lifts, man lifts, skid steers, and aerial platform equipment
• Ability to lead crews when the foreman is gone, with DC/AC electrical skills
• Update equipment office records and installation specifications to document accurate 'as built'
• Ability to work on ladders, demonstrated manual dexterity
• Must be adaptable to changing environments
• Must be able to pick up 50 lbs. and be capable of working up to 12 hours
• Must be available to work weekends and/or nights, in extreme weather conditions if necessary, and be willing to travel extensively
• Must be able to work out of the market or away from home as work demands

Compensation of $23-$26 per hour, depending on the experience.
