Job summary

SGS North America Inc. seeks a Field Technician I to perform field sampling aboard ocean-going vessels, harbor craft, and land facilities.

This role requires coordination with vessel crews and port agents to schedule attendances and transport samples to the lab while maintaining GLP standards for sample integrity. The ideal candidate has an Associate degree or higher in chemistry, microbiology, or environmental science and at least 1 year of related experience, plus the ability to lift up to 40

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Field Technician I with a passion for the shipping industry to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and are eager to apply their chemical and/or microbiological expertise to field testing and sample collection aboard ocean-going vessels, harbor craft, and land-based facilities.The Field Technician I will coordinate with vessel crews and port agents to schedule attendances, conduct sampling, and transport collected samples to the laboratory for analysis. The role requires strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to maintain sample integrity, prevent contamination, and ensure accurate results. Candidates must be comfortable working safely in port and industrial environments while following all relevant safety protocols.

Qualifications

Compensation

The expected hourly range for this position is $22 - $25 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base hourly rate we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
