Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Lab Technician I to prepare samples with precision per SGS SOPs. The role involves working independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets while upholding safe laboratory practices.

The ideal candidate has 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry laboratories, with a High School Diploma. Associates degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience are preferred. This is a full-time position located in the United States.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories.
• Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline preferred.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis following SGS SOPs using department-specific instruments and methodologies.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory operations.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Description

The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma Required
• 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one's hands Required

• 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories Preferred

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $20-$22/hour. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
