Job summary

ThinkTech is seeking a Field Technician I to provide onsite technical support for clients in the Triangle area and surrounding regions. The role suits someone building IT support experience and wanting hands-on client interactions across diverse environments.

You will troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity, while developing relationships with clients and teammates to deliver effective support. This role is onsite with some travel and on‑call rotation.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years IT support experience.
• Experience troubleshooting Windows and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, with ability to travel regularly to client sites in the region.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client locations to resolve onsite issues.
• Troubleshoot PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals, and common business apps.
• Install and configure hardware and software.
• Support user onboarding, workstation deployments, and equipment replacements.
• Assist with networking, device connectivity, and infra-related support.

• Document work performed and collaborate with teammates to deliver effective client support.

ThinkTech is a Managed IT Services Provider helping businesses operate more securely, efficiently, and confidently through technology.

We're looking for a Field Technician I to provide onsite technical support for our clients across the Triangle and surrounding areas.

This role is ideal for someone who has built a foundation in IT support, enjoys troubleshooting technology, and wants to work directly with clients to solve problems in person. It's a great opportunity to build on Service Desk or Help Desk experience while supporting clients across a variety of business environments and technologies.

What You'll Do

• Travel to client locations to resolve technical issues that require onsite support
• Troubleshoot PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals, and common business applications
• Install and configure hardware and software
• Support user onboarding, workstation deployments, and equipment replacements
• Assist with networking, device connectivity, and infrastructure-related support
• Build trusted client relationships through clear communication, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented approach
• Communicate technical concepts in a way clients can easily understand
• Document work performed and collaborate with teammates to deliver effective client support

What We’re Looking For:

• Approximately 1-2 years of IT support experience
• Experience troubleshooting Windows and Microsoft 365 environments
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, with ability to travel regularly to client sites throughout the region

Bonus Points For:

• Desktop Support, onsite technical support, or MSP experience
• Experience with ConnectWise or similar ticketing systems
• Networking knowledge or Microsoft certifications

What This Role Isn’t:

• A fully remote support role
• The same environment every day

Work Environment

• Frequent onsite client visits (typically 3+ days per week) across a variety of business environments
• Participation in an on-call rotation (approximately one week every three months)
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in confined spaces when needed
• Occasional ladder use

Compensation

• Base salary: $40,000 - $50,000
• Eligible for profit sharing
• Overtime eligibility as applicable
