Job summary

Leavitt Machinery in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a Field Technician for Dock & Door services. You will install, diagnose, and repair dock equipment and overhead doors, while building strong relationships with customers and coordinating with the service team.

The role requires troubleshooting, welding, electrical work, and travel to local client sites. A valid driver's license and a Journeyperson ticket are preferred, with a competitive hourly wage and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson ticket in Heavy Duty or Automotive is preferred.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Welding, torching and grinding steel experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
• Strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Install dock equipment including docks, doors, operators and safety systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair dock equipment including dock plates and overhead doors.
• Build relationships with customers and clarify repair needs.
• Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
• Coordinate with dispatcher and provide updates.
• Prepare parts before visits and liaise with Parts department to ensure availability.
• Complete work order forms for assigned jobs.
• Adhere to warranty policies and document warranty work.
• Report safety incidents per company policy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Install various equipment ranging from docks doors operators vertical seal packages and traffic light systems to upgrade customer needsAdequately diagnose troubleshoot and repair dock equipment including dock plates and overhead doors
• Build relationships with customers communicating a clear understanding of job scopes and repair requirements
• Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections on assigned equipment establishing procedures and cost guidelines at customers facility
• Conduct tasks assigned from the Dispatcher maintaining communication and providing updates as needed
• Prepare all required parts before visiting job sites and actively communicate with the Parts department to ensure required parts are available
• Complete work order forms for assigned jobs
• Adhere to warranty policies and complete necessary warranty documentation
• Report any safety incidents according to company policy

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeypersons ticket is an asset
• Experience in electrical troubleshooting preferred
• Experience with welding torching and grinding steel preferred
• Ability to read and understand schematics
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with external customers and internal stakeholders
• Valid drivers license required
• Ability to travel to customer sites within the local region as needed

Salary and Location

The base pay range for this role is 3300 to 4200 per hour depending on experience

This is an onsite role based in Mississauga Ontario
