Job summary

Leavitt Machinery in Portland, Oregon is seeking a mechanically skilled Field Technician to join our Service team. You will diagnose, repair and perform routine maintenance on a variety of material handling equipment at customer sites under the Service Manager.

You will coordinate with the Parts department, document work orders, and maintain clear communication with customers. Requirements include 2–3 years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel regionally.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of heavy equipment or material handling experience.
• Aerial platform and lift truck repair experience preferred.
• Trade Certification is a strong asset.
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing/servicing electric engines is a strong asset.
• Excellent communication skills with customers and internal teams.
• Strong problem-solving and willingness to learn.
• High school diploma and valid driver’s license; regional travel required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing, repairing and performing routine maintenance on material handling equipment.
• Communicating with the Service Dispatcher and completing tasks in a timely manner.
• Discussing job details with customers and confirming repair scope.
• Coordinating parts with the Parts department and prepping parts for visits.
• Keeping accurate documentation including work orders and warranty paperwork.
• Reporting safety incidents promptly and following safety policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnosing repairing and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
• Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
• Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
• Maintaining proper documentation where needed including work order forms and warranty paperwork
• Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2 3 years of heavy equipment or material handling equipment experience required
• Previous aerial platform and lift truck repair experience strongly preferred
• Relevant Trade Certification a strong asset
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosingservicing electric engines a strong asset
• Strong communication skills including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
• Excellent problem solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
• High school diploma
• Valid drivers license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required

The base pay range for this role is 3500 to 4325 per hour depending on experience This is an onsite role based in Portland Oregon
