Job summary

Reliable Door and Dock, a Vortex Doors Company, seeks Field Service Technicians to install and service overhead doors, docks, and related hardware at customer sites. You will set up and maintain commercial equipment, ensure proper installation and balance, and deliver excellent customer service with clear documentation.

The role requires 1+ year of related experience, strong tool knowledge, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience installing or servicing overhead doors and docks or related mechanical fields.
• Strong communication skills with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, installation guides, drawings and safety information.
• Solid math skills including fractions/decimals and measurement with tape measure.

Responsibilities

• Install and service overhead doors, docks, dock levelers, springs and cables.

Responsibilities

Our Field Service Technicians are the face of Reliable Door and Dock and make a direct, positive impact on our customers every day. Responsibilities include:

• Installing and servicing overhead doors, docks, dock levelers, springs, cables, and related hardware.
• Setting up and maintaining commercial and industrial specialty doors, equipment, and accessories.
• Checking each job for proper installation, clearance, and balance.
• Providing excellent customer service and responding to customer questions honestly and courteously.
• Writing accurate, complete job notes, service tickets, and work summaries.

Requirements

• One or more years of experience installing or servicing overhead doors and docks, or similar mechanical, electrical, construction, or field service experience.
• Strong working knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically.
• Ability to work well on a team and independently.
• Strong communication skills with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as manuals, installation guides, drawings schematics, and safety information.
• Solid math skills, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals across units of measure, and accurate use of a tape measure.
• A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets our insurance carrier’s eligibility requirements.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The essential functions of this role include the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Frequently lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs independently, and up to 100 lbs with assistance or lifting equipment.
• Frequently standing, walking, reaching above shoulder height, climbing ladders or lifts, and balancing.
• Handling tools, parts, and controls, and performing close-up visual work.
• Driving a company vehicle to customer sites.
• Communicating effectively with customers and coworkers on job sites.

Work is performed mainly outdoors and at customer facilities, in varying weather and near moving mechanical equipment, with moderate to loud noise. Some work is performed in an office setting. Closed-toe shoes are required at all times, and safety glasses and safety-toe footwear are required in the warehouse and field.
