Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing – Jefferson, Louisiana

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking an Field Technician I to join our Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Jefferson, LA. This role offers a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction industry.

Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a US-based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. The services include construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

What the role involves

The Field Technician performs a variety of testing, project-specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. The ideal candidate is willing to travel in the local region to various projects, specifically New Orleans, LA, and has experience in concrete testing, nuclear density testing, and pile logging.

• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete) and provide assessment of data through reporting.
• Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
• Use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results.
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

• Two years of construction materials testing experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Level 1.
• Experience in nuclear density testing.
• Ability to work off shift and overtime as needed.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
• Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30–50 pounds frequently; occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make discriminations in sound.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
• Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights.
• Ability to work overnight hours and off shift.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications

• TWIC
• Hazmat certification.
