Senior Field Technician – Construction Materials Testing – Memphis, Tennessee

Intertek is actively seeking a Senior Field Technician to join our Intertek‑PSI team in Memphis, Tennessee. This role offers a versatile career in the architectural, engineering and construction industry, performing field inspections and construction materials testing to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of testing, project‑specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision or controlled procedures.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete, or other materials) and provide assessment of data through reporting.
• Work utilizing drawings, specifications and diagrams.
• Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
• Make detailed observations and give limited interpretation of results.
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
• Operate a calculator to compute mathematical test results.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
• Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

Minimum Requirements

• Five or more years of experience performing field construction materials testing.
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal, listening) and solid interpersonal skills.
• External (or task‑related) certifications based on region and state may be required.
• Basic math, calculator and computer skills.
• Ability to read and understand work plans.
• Must be able to work off‑shift and overtime as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.

Preferred Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I Certification.
• Additional industry certifications (ACI/ICC/TDOT) are highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
• Ability to climb occasionally.
