Job summary

Intertek Building & Construction in Lansing, MI is seeking an Entry Level Field Technician I to operate testing equipment for soils, concrete and other materials, and report findings.

You will use drawings, specifications and diagrams, perform tasks to specification, document data in detail, and be prepared for overtime, travel up to 25% and outdoor work in various weather. A High School diploma and ACI certification are preferred; physical lifting is required.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; ACI certification preferred.
• Willingness to work overtime and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate testing equipment for soils, concrete, and other materials and report data.

What will you do?

• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing such as soil, concrete, and other materials, and provide assessment of data through reporting.
• Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
• Use specific methods to perform tasks, make detailed observations of site activities, and give limited interpretation of results.
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Must be able to work off‑shift and overtime as needed.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to discriminate sounds.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
• Ability to climb occasionally and work at various heights.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of construction-related experience.
• ACI Certification.
