Job summary

Musco Lighting is seeking a Field Technician for the Colorado Region. The role involves maintenance, repair, and inspection of Musco products in the field, using ladders and aerial lifts, and coordinating with customers and vendors. A valid CDL may be required for service projects.

The position demands strong mechanical and electrical skills, problem-solving ability, and excellent communication. Extensive travel (approximately 220–240 days/year) and occasional weekend hours are expected.

Qualifications

  • Basic electrical and mechanical skills and experience.
  • Electrical license or work toward obtaining preferred.
  • Excellent technical and problem solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
  • Strong personal initiative and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Basic computer, email, and internet skills for receiving work instructions and job reporting.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
  • Comply with Federal DOT rules and regulations, including drug and alcohol testing under the rules of the Federal Railroad Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and inspection of equipment and Musco product.
  • Fine tune lighting projects, which will require working from ladders, working in aerial lifts at the top of lighting poles, and climbing light poles and/or towers.
  • Install Musco’s controls product on new or existing projects utilizing technician blade screwdrivers.
  • Coordinate time frames for projects with customers, vendors, equipment and people resources for assigned projects.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Field Logistics Manager regarding daily work duties and schedules.
  • Provide detailed written field reports and completion of required paperwork within one week of project or assignment of paperwork.
  • Provide leadership to crew and coordinate issues with vendors and customers on projects where Project Management responsibility has been assigned.
  • Drive and operate Musco equipment on service projects, which may require a Commercial Drivers’ License.
  • Work on crews to provide Musco relamp’s and Soccer WOLS installs.
  • Make solid daily expense related decisions.

Other Special Requirements
  • Extensive travel (220-240 days per year) is required within the U.S. and, at times, abroad (Canada)
  • Weekend work is required at times
  • Long and odd work hours are necessary at times
  • Projects to service lighting poles or structures that are between 40 and 120 feet tall using aerial lifts or by climbing with approved fall protect equipment, in rare cases servicing heights of over 120 feet may be required
  • Serving on mobile lighting crews may be needed at times

Estimated salary range: $70,000-90,000
