Job summary

LAUKOA is seeking Field Technicians to support cultural resource management work in Texas along the U.S./Mexico border. This temporary, field-based assignment offers at least 40 hours per week for about 3 weeks and includes a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Responsibilities include recording resources, testing and data recovery, completing daily logs, and coordinating with the LAUKOA team. Benefits and per diem at federal rates are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or closely related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or professional internships.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations NHPA/NEPA/ARPA/NAGPRA.
  • Ability to identify historic/pre-contact artifacts and features.
  • Clear written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording technical data is a plus.
  • Detail oriented and proactive in field troubleshooting.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and ability to operate a 4WD vehicle.
  • Ability to work in remote areas and rugged terrain; endure high outdoor temperatures; stand/walk long periods; carry up to 40 lbs.

Job description

Field Technician

LAUKOA is seeking Field Technicians to support cultural resource management work in Texas along the U.S./Mexico border.

This is a temporary position for a field based cultural resources recovery project offering at least 40 hours a week and expected to last 3 weeks.

Applicant must be able to pass a federal and state background check, as well as a drug test as part of the pre-employment process for project-based assignments.

Per Diem is provided at federal rates.

Responsibilities:
  • Recording of cultural resources
  • Testing, excavation, and data recovery
  • Completion of daily activity logs
  • Communication and coordination with LAUKOA team members
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or professional internships
  • Familiarity with environmental and cultural regulations including but not not limited to NHPA, NEPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA
