Job summary

LAUKOA seeks a Field Technician to support cultural resource management work along the U.S./Mexico border in Texas. This temporary, field-based assignment offers at least 40 hours per week and lasts about three weeks.

A federal and state background check and drug test are required before employment, with per diem provided at federal rates. Responsibilities include recording resources, conducting testing/excavation, and maintaining daily logs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or professional internships
  • Familiarity with NHPA, NEPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA regulations
  • Ability to identify historic artifacts and features
  • Strong written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills
  • Detail oriented and proactive in field troubleshooting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to operate a 4WD vehicle
  • Ability to work in remote areas and rugged terrain
  • Ability to withstand high outdoor temperatures and stand/walk long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs

Field Technician

LAUKOA is seeking Field Technicians to support cultural resource management work in Texas along the U.S./Mexico border.

This is a temporary position for a field based cultural resources recovery project offering at least 40 hours a week and expected to last 3 weeks.

Applicant must be able to pass a federal and state background check, as well as a drug test as part of the pre-employment process for project-based assignments.

Per Diem is provided at federal rates.

Responsibilities
  • Recording of cultural resources

  • Communication and coordination with LAUKOA team members
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or a closely related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or professional internships
  • Familiarity with environmental and cultural regulations including but not limited to NHPA, NEPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA
  • Ability to identify historic and pre-contact artifacts and features
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills. Experience recording recording/writing technical data a plus
  • Detail oriented and proactive in troubleshooting/problem solving in the field
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to operate a 4WD vehicle
  • Ability to work in very remote areas and in rugged terrain
  • Ability to withstand high outdoor temperaturesAbility to stand and walk for long periods
  • Ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40lbs
