Job summary

Deus X Defense is seeking a Field Technician (Hardware Generalist) to keep drone systems operational and provide regional support at customer sites in Spartanburg, SC. This hands-on role blends hardware assembly, troubleshooting, and collaboration with DXD engineers.

You will be the regional technical resource, available after hours and traveling to customer locations as needed. Startup environment experience and a strong engineering mindset are valued.

Qualifications

• Preference for candidates with hands-on experience with drones or drone hardware
• Familiar with hardware assembly and disassembly
• Able to think through and troubleshoot hardware issues
• Engineering background preferred; relevant experience can substitute on a case-by-case basis
• Strong communicator who can work with engineers over the phone
• Comfortable working alone with only phone and video support from the team
• Experience with robotics or autonomous systems is a strong plus
• Experience in a startup environment is a plus

Position Summary

The Field Technician is Deus X Defense's hands-on hardware generalist for a region. This person keeps our drone systems fully operational and delivering persistent coverage at customer sites, in direct support of client safety and security. Through hands-on training from DXD engineers and remote technical support, the Field Technician serves as the regional technical resource, reasoning through difficult hardware issues and getting systems back in service.

Reporting to our Director of Solutions Architects, this individual works hand in hand with Engineering and Operations. We are looking for a generalist who loves hands-on problems, learns new technologies quickly, and is comfortable wearing many hats. Adaptability and resourcefulness are key.

What You Will Own

Regional Technical Support

• Apply the hardware training provided by DXD to serve as regional technical support for deployed systems
• Ensure full operational capability of systems in your region so coverage at customer sites stays persistent
• Assemble, disassemble, and troubleshoot hardware in the field using the provided tool kit

After-Hours Response

• Be available for on-call, after-hours support at local customer sites 1 to 4 times per month

Engineering Partnership

• Work directly with DXD engineers to ensure safe and quick recovery of system capabilities
• Collaborate with the team by phone and video, and work independently when on site

About You
