Job summary

Patriot Environmental Services is hiring for a hands-on environmental services role in California. The team performs emergency response, cleanup, and remediation services on customer sites, using in-house resources to meet safety and quality standards.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 40-hour HAZWOPER, and a valid driver’s license. The job involves physical duties and potential overtime, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Responsibilities

• Health and safety first: follow safe work practices and policies.
• Perform emergency response cleanup for chemical/water spills.
• Sweep, dig, shovel, lift, pressure wash and handle drums.
• Operate cleanup equipment used in hazardous waste activities.
• Follow procedures for hazardous substances storage and control.
• Attend safety training as required.
• Respond to 24/7 emergency calls when on standby.
• Work long hours and overtime as needed.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner.
• Perform emergency response cleanup activities including but not limited to chemical and water spills, non-hazardous and hazardous waste and toxic materials and equipment decontamination.
• Sweep, dig, shovel, lift, pressure wash and handling drums to assist in cleanup.
• Operate cleanup equipment used in hazardous waste activities.
• Follow policies and procedures for control and storage of hazardous substances.
• Attend safety training as required.
• Comply with the Random Drug Testing Program.
• Perform various housekeeping and custodial duties and other duties as required.
• Assist with maintenance of facility like unloading trucks and other ancillary duties.
• Answer 24/7 Emergency Response calls when on uncontrolled standby.
• Work long hours and overtime during day, night or weekend shifts.
• Other reasonable directives, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Experience, Education And Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Some environmental services industry experience preferred.
• Some hazardous waste control experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Driving record that meets company standards and current DMV printout, required.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.
• Confined Space Entry certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• Pushing / pulling: frequent daily basis
• Twisting / turning: frequent daily basis
• Lift items over head: frequent daily basis
• Standing: 6-8 hours daily
• Crouching / stooping: prolonged periods
• Lifting / carrying: frequent daily up to 50 lbs
• Work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Required to wear a variety of personal protection equipment as required including but not limited to Tyvek suits.
• Required to wear respirators as needed.
• Performs labor intensive activities in all weather conditions during any hours during the day or night.

Pay: $18 - $25 per hourly
