Job summary

Patriot Environmental Services in California seeks a hands-on Environmental Technician to support emergency response and remediation projects. You will perform cleanup tasks, operate equipment, and follow strict safety policies while maintaining project paperwork.

Required are a valid driver’s license and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification. This role may require long hours, overtime, and outdoor work in various weather conditions. A 401(k) with company matching is provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license and DMV printout required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the priority and follow all safe work practices.
  • Perform emergency response cleanup activities, including chemical and water spills.
  • Operate cleanup equipment and handle drums and waste containers.
  • Follow procedures for control and storage of hazardous substances.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner.
  • Perform emergency response cleanup activities including but not limited to chemical and water spills, non-hazardous and hazardous waste and toxic materials and equipment decontamination.
  • Sweep, dig, shovel, lift, pressure wash and handling drums to assist in cleanup.
  • Operate cleanup equipment used in hazardous waste activities.
  • Follow policies and procedures for control and storage of hazardous substances.
  • Attend safety training as required.
  • Comply with the Random Drug Testing Program.
  • Perform various housekeeping and custodial duties and other duties as required.
  • Assist with maintenance of facility like unloading trucks and other ancillary duties.
  • Answer 24/7 Emergency Response calls when on uncontrolled standby.
  • Work long hours and overtime during day, night or weekend shifts.
  • Other reasonable directives, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Some environmental services industry experience preferred.
  • Some hazardous waste control experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Driving record that meets company standards and current DMV printout, required.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required.
  • Confined Space Entry certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Pushing / pulling: frequent daily basis
  • Twisting / turning: frequent daily basis
  • Lift items over head: frequent daily basis
  • Crouching / stooping: prolonged periods
  • Lifting / carrying: frequent daily up to 50 lbs
  • Work in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Required to wear a variety of personal protection equipment as required including but not limited to Tyvek suits.
  • Required to wear respirators as needed.
  • Performs labor intensive activities in all weather conditions during any hours during the day or night.

Pay: $18 - $25 per hour

The compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, work experience, competencies, and skills, and may fall outside of the range shown.
