Job description

Join to apply for the Field Technician role at Omni Fiber.

The Field Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining customer premise equipment, including fiber optic systems, while providing excellent customer service. This role involves working outdoors, performing installations at heights, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The technician will use hand tools, fiber optic tools, and other equipment to complete installations and repairs while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Install and maintain customer premise equipment (CPE), including fiber optic systems and related equipment, ensuring quality and proper functionality.
  2. Interact professionally with customers, address concerns, explain services, and ensure satisfaction with installations and services.
  3. Diagnose and resolve technical issues with customer equipment and services to minimize downtime and maximize performance.
  4. Follow safety standards, including OSHA guidelines, and operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely.
  5. Work in confined spaces such as basements, crawl spaces, and attics, and at heights up to 30 feet using ladders.
  6. Identify opportunities to upsell services and communicate additional offerings effectively.
  7. Complete all service reports, installation checklists, and documentation accurately and promptly.
Qualifications
  1. Strong customer service skills to engage and satisfy customers.
  2. Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet, including using ladders and other equipment.
  3. Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting customer premise equipment, including fiber optics.
  4. Experience with fiber optic installations, fusion splicing, and fiber testing is preferred.
  5. Familiarity with bucket trucks for high-altitude work is preferred.
  6. Fiber optic certification and OSHA 10 certification are preferred.
  7. Experience in upselling services is a plus.
  8. Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
  9. Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  10. Ability to distinguish colors for wiring and installation tasks.
Schedule
  • 1st Shift: Tuesday - Saturday or Sunday - Thursday
