Ascendum Machinery is seeking a Field Service Technician to promptly repair and maintain construction equipment at customer sites, adhering to established procedures while fostering solid customer and coworker relationships.

The role requires wage compliance with FLSA non-exempt status, travel up to 100%, and a commitment to safety training, On-site work with company tools, and DOT requirements. Strong mechanical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Trade school completion in appropriate field.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook (Microsoft products).
  • Ability to communicate with customers and co‑workers positively and clearly.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/ MSHA/ Ascendum safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and service machinery for complete customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain, safely operate, and care for assigned service truck and company tools.
  • Keep up-to-date with safety, product training, and service goals.
  • Complete assigned work with minimal re-work.
  • Work without direct supervision.
  • Use Ascendum tools and service equipment safely.
  • Order parts through Ascendum Parts as needed.
  • Follow all safety requirements at all times.
  • Complete required paperwork and maintain records/photos as required.
  • Leave the work location clean or better after job completion.
  • Meet DOT requirements (physical, medical card, safety regs).
  • Participate in training and development programs as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Service Technician provides timely completion of repairs and maintenance to various construction equipment and machinery at customer locations, according to established procedures, while maintaining good working relationships with customers and co-workers.

FLSA STATUS

The U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to classify their employees as being either exempt or non-exempt for the purpose of being paid overtime wages. The essential duties of this job are such that the employee is classified according to the FLSA as a Non-Exempt employee.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.

  • Repair and service machinery for complete customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain, safely operate, and care for assigned service truck and company owned tools and equipment per company requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all safety training, product training, and service department goals.
  • Complete assigned work with minimum re-work.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Properly and safely use Ascendum owned tools and service equipment.
  • Order parts and materials through Ascendum Parts to complete work assignments.
  • Ensure all company safety requirements are followed at all times.
  • Complete all required paperwork and maintain records/photos/other materials as required, for example, time clocking or collection records, SOC reports.
  • Leave the working location in an as clean or better condition when job is completed. Follow contamination control procedures.
  • Complete all DOT requirements, including physical, medical card and safety regulations.
  • Seeks formal and informal performance assessments, including performance versus expectations.
  • Actively participates in required training, development programs, and electives as suits one’s needs.
  • Respond positively to other duties that may be assigned in the scope of the job.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES/PROFICIENCIES

Satisfactorily achieving and/or meeting the following Experience, Competencies, and Proficiencies that are essential duties of the job:

  • Experience and/or Education: Trade school completion in appropriate field.
  • Computer Skills: The employee can use the equipment and software required to accomplish the responsibilities of this position. Knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Possess ability to communicate with customers and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner. Maintain an approachable and friendly demeanor.
  • Knowledge of safe job practices & regulations related to OSHA, MSHA and Ascendum Machinery requirements.
  • Aptitude for repairing, trouble shooting, and servicing equipment in changing environments.
  • Mechanical knowledge of tools and mechanical work for repairing equipment.
  • Above average knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, diesel engines.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.
  • Raises issues and concerns promptly.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Document work in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven ability to complete work with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Customer orientation toward service and building relationships.
  • Compatible to working branch hours and extended days as needed.
  • Must possess own set of tools for repairing equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Being able to meet the Physical Demands of the job is an essential duty of the job.

  • While performing this job, employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods.
  • The position requires the ability to kneel, stoop, bend, climb and crawl without restrictions.
  • The position requires the continuous use of wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • The position requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • The position requires the ability to work in varying outdoor environments with various terrain.
  • Must possess the ability to safely drive a field service truck and pass DOT physical and MVR requirements.
