Job summary

The Rise Group is seeking a Field Technician to assist field crews with condition assessments and inspections of boilers, vessels, piping, steam turbines, and other critical components across power, utility, chemical, food processing, and paper mills. The role requires frequent overnight travel and field location work.

Job description

As a Field Technician, you will assist the field crew with field condition assessments and inspections of boilers, vessels, piping, steam turbines and related critical components in the power, utility, chemical, food processing and paper mill industries. This position requires frequent overnight out of town travel. This position frequently operates in a variety of power and utility plants.General laboring duties (equipment set up, equipment break down, gathering tools, etc.)Assist at the project site with field condition assessments.Assist at the project site with field inspections of various critical components.Operating various types of hand tools and power equipment.Perform other duties as assigned or required to support the team.This position frequently operates within a variety of power, chemical, food processing, paper mills and utility plants. Position will entail frequent exposure to varying conditions with exposure to any or all of the following: Heat, Cold, Heights, Dust, Dirt, Indoor, Outdoors, and Confined Areas. May need to navigate uneven terrain.Physical DemandsFrequentLifting weight up to and over 50 lbs. in both a vertical and horizontal range of motion.Crawl, stoop, stand, reach (push/pull) & bend to perform necessary work.Able to ascend and descend on extension ladders, step ladders and stairs using feet and/or hands and arms.Able to drive a company vehicle and walk around at job sites.Computer input, typing an answering the phone.Clarity of vision at both over 20 feet and under 20 inches.Able to judge depth (distance & space relationships), have a good field of vision, and identify and distinguish colors.Adjustment of eye to bring object into sharp focus.Using oil or chemicals.QualificationsRegular and predictable attendance, the ability to safely perform task and adhere to the company's safety policies and procedures.Organized, self-starter with the ability to work under pressure and conduct themselves professionally.Ability to effectively interact with employees from all levels within an organization.Ability to practice discretion and good judgment and maintain confidentiality.Field work in power plants or similar industrial facilities is a plus!Non-Destructive Testing is a plus!Hands on work experience in welding, machining, construction or a similar trade is a plus!A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is a plus!Certifications are a plus (OSHA 10, OSHA 30, ASNT, API, AWS-CWI)!Who We AreThe RISE Group is an employee-owned, professional engineering firm that provides a complete range of consulting, design, and energy services to customers throughout the United States and internationally.
