Job summary

CEC Electric Inc. is seeking experienced Commercial Electricians to join our field team. This traveling role supports commercial construction, installation, service, equipment replacement, and project closeout across California, including San Diego and surrounding areas.

Ideal candidates have strong installation skills, field problem-solving abilities, and professional communication from project kickoff to final inspection. Occasional out-of-state travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read electrical plans, one-line diagrams, and panel schedules.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout California and occasionally out of state.
  • Experience installing conduit, wiring, terminations, and electrical equipment on commercial sites.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices and applicable codes.
  • Able to lift and work outdoors, including climbing and bending.

Responsibilities

  • Plan installations to provide future maintenance access and code compliance.
  • Install conduit, conductors, equipment, supports, fittings, and boxes.
  • Perform wire pulls, identify and terminate conductors.
  • Install panels, transformers, disconnects, and grounding systems.
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and customers.

Job Summary

Seeking experienced Commercial Electricians to join our growing field team. This is a traveling position supporting commercial electrical construction, installation, service, equipment replacement, and project closeout work.

We value electricians who can complete quality installations, communicate clearly, solve problems in the field, and represent the company professionally from the beginning of a project through final inspection and closeout.

Some projects will be located in San Diego and surrounding area, but most assignments will require travel throughout California. Occasional out of state travel may also be required.

General Accountabilities
  • Plans new or modified installations to provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly and hazardous wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Install electrical conduit, conductors, equipment, supports, fittings, boxes, and related electrical materials
  • Measures, bend, and install EMT, rigid conduit, flexible conduit, and other approved raceway systems
  • Perform commercial wire pulls and properly identify, phase, route, and terminate conductors
  • Install and connect panels, transformers, disconnects, breakers, switches, receptacles, equipment feeds, grounding systems, and related components
  • Assist with electrical demolition, safe off work, equipment replacement, and new installations
  • Read and follow electrical plans, specifications, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, and written scopes of work.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits, equipment, controls, and power distribution systems
  • Verify installations and complete basic testing before requesting inspection or energization.
  • Coordinate work with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, customers, and other trades
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, photographs, material records, and project documentation when required
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in a safe and professional condition
  • Follow company safety requirements, applicable electrical codes, and all job site procedures.
  • Travel for multiple days or weeks at a time when required by the project schedule.
  • Company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Approximately 4 to 5 years of commercial electrical construction or service experience
  • Current California General Electrician Certification, or lawful electrician trainee or apprenticeship status appropriate for the work being performed
  • Practical experience installing conduit, pulling wire, terminating conductors, and installing commercial electrical equipment
  • Ability to read electrical plans, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and equipment instructions
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices and applicable code requirements
  • Ability to use standard electrical testing equipment and construction tools safely
  • Ability to perform physical construction work, including lifting, climbing, bending, working from ladders, and working outdoors
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout California and occasionally out of state
  • Strong work ethic, reliable, dependable attendance, and the ability to work effectively with a field crew
  • Ability to communicate field conditions, material needs, schedule concerns, and potential change order work
  • Professional attitude,and respect for customers, coworkers, and project locations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with commercial services, switchgear, transformers, disconnects, panels, and power distribution equipment
  • Experience with underground electrical pathways, equipment shelters, telecommunications facilities, or utility related projects
  • Experience troubleshooting existing electrical systems
  • Experience performing electrical demolition and safe off work
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, CPR, first aid, lift certification, or other applicable safety training
  • Experience supervising helpers or small field crews
  • Experience completing daily reports and photographic project documentation
