Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking experienced Field Technicians to join the Underground Utilities, Land Surveying, and Mapping team in Pittsburgh. Role resembles a utility locator with 5+ years of experience and requires travel.

The candidate will conduct field investigations, operate equipment to locate subsurface utilities, label topographic features, and complete daily reports while supporting training and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in field or related roles.
• Strong mathematics and coordinate geometry skills.
• Familiarity with total stations, data collectors and GPS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations.
• Operate equipment to locate and mark subsurface utilities.
• Label topographic features from field codes.
• Perform calculations and prepare field notes.
• Complete daily reports and sketches.
• Assist in training SUE staff and field safety procedures.
• Participate in project meetings.
• Travel to field sites as required.
• Interpret plans and utility drawings.
