Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks a skilled Utility Locator to join the Underground Utilities team in Charleston, SC. Position involves locating subsurface utilities in field conditions 90% of the time, with occasional travel and night shifts.

Candidate must pass MV screening and background checks, interpret plans, and operate surveying tools such as total stations and GPS. TN visa eligible for qualified candidates; extensive outdoors work and lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening and background checks.
• Must be able to interpret roadway and utility construction plans and drawings.
• Experience with surveying equipment and data collection preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to locate subsurface utilities.
• Mark utilities upon location.
• Excavate utilities as needed.
• Interpret roadway and utility construction plans and drawings.
• Record accurate field notes and document assignments.
• Collect data using survey equipment and perform calculations.
