Job summary

ECS Limited in Richmond, VA is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Team Leader to coordinate field staff and support project execution. The role blends field and office duties, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timely delivery while upholding ECS Core Values.

You will mentor technicians, assist with scheduling, equipment management and reporting, and interact with clients and project managers. This is a hands-on leadership position within our Richmond team.

Qualifications

• 3 years of related experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain basic certifications and ECS policy requirements.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented.
• Good understanding of construction materials testing principles and standards.
• Ability to balance field execution with coordination responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with management and coordination of field staff.
• Support scheduling and staffing of technicians for projects.
• Mentor and train field technicians for competency and development.
• Promote safety culture and PPE usage.
• Assist with safety training and compliance efforts.
• Perform field testing, observation, and inspections as needed.
• Communicate daily with technicians, PMs, and contractors.
• Assist with calibration and maintenance of field equipment and records.
• Support inventory management for equipment and supplies.
• Assist with recruiting and staffing to maintain team levels.
• Review and support field documentation and reporting accuracy.
• Provide support to PMs and department leadership.
• Attend project meetings and support field coordination.
• Assist with business development and client interaction.
