Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Field Systems Engineer for Photomask Production Systems to design, integrate, and optimize complex equipment across ALTA Laser Writer and Sigma Meltec lines.

You will serve as the technical focal point for high-value problems, conducting on-site and remote support, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Sciences, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 4-7 years of experience supporting semiconductor capital equipment, photomask manufacturing equipment, lithography systems, laser systems, or related advanced manufacturing equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical, optical, laser, software, and process systems in a customer-facing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical escalations, cross-functional problem-solving efforts, and customer-critical recovery activities.
• Strong understanding of root cause analysis, reliability improvement methodologies, and engineering change management processes.
• Excellent communication, project leadership, and customer engagement skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Field Service Organization (FSO) technical focal point for HVPs, customer escalations, and critical system recovery.
• Lead technical investigations and root cause analysis across multiple subsystems (optical, laser, electrical, mechanical, software, process).
• Coordinate with BU Engineering, GPS, TSE, Quality & Reliability, Manufacturing, and Service to resolve field issues.
• Provide hands-on onsite and remote support during escalations, installations, upgrades, evaluations, and reliability projects.
• Support engineering projects with mixed disciplines while understanding system implications.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions to improve reliability, maintainability, and productivity.
