Job summary

SunEnergy1 is seeking an experienced Surveyor to support utility-scale solar, BESS, substation, and renewable energy construction projects. This role will provide field surveying and layout support, working closely with Project Management, Engineering, and Construction teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in professional surveying, proficient with GPS/GNSS and robotic total stations, and can read civil/site plans. Travel to project sites and outdoor work are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional surveying experience, preferably in construction.
• Experience with construction layout and field surveying.
• Proficiency with GPS/GNSS surveying equipment and robotic total stations.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, electrical, and site plans.
• Strong understanding of elevations, grades, coordinates, benchmarks, and construction tolerances.
• Ability to work independently in active construction environments.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction surveying and layout for utility-scale solar, BESS, substation, and civil construction projects.
• Establish and maintain project control points, benchmarks, and site coordinates.
• Perform construction staking for foundations, piles, roads, drainage, equipment, fencing, underground utilities, and other site improvements.
• Verify locations, elevations, grades, slopes, and dimensions against approved plans and specifications.
• Perform topographic and as-built surveys.
• Collect field data using GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, levels, and other surveying equipment.
• Provide accurate field measurements and documentation to Project Management, Engineering, and Construction teams.
• Review engineering drawings and translate plans into field layout.
• Assist with quantity verification, earthwork measurements, stockpile calculations, and site grading verification.
• Support civil, electrical, and structural construction activities with field survey information.
• Perform quality-control checks on installed work and identify discrepancies between plans and field conditions.
• Prepare and maintain field notes, survey records, reports, and electronic data.
• Coordinate with third-party surveyors, engineers, subcontractors, and project management as required.
• Support drone/UAS mapping and other technology-based surveying activities when applicable.
• Maintain surveying equipment and ensure proper calibration and operation.
• Travel to project sites and work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
