Job summary

Louisiana Bridge Builders is seeking a Field Surveyor in Lake Charles, LA to provide precise field measurements, layout, and data verification for roadway and bridge construction. You will operate GNSS receivers, total stations, levels, and drones to collect accurate survey data and support engineers.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of field surveying, knowledge of machine control models, construction staking, and proficiency with AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement is Field Surveyor with a valid driver’s license.
• 5+ years of field surveying experience; roadway/bridge/heavy civil experience preferred.
• Knowledge of machine control models, construction staking, and proficiency with AutoCAD or similar survey software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction surveys for roadway alignments and bridge foundations.
• Operate GNSS receivers, total stations, levels, and drones to collect field data.
• Perform construction layout and stakeout for earthwork, structures, utilities, and roadway features.
• Monitor progress and verify compliance with plans, specs, and right-of-way limits.
• Perform QA/QC checks on survey data and maintain survey control networks.
• Process survey data using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
• Prepare as-built surveys, volume calculations, and digital deliverables (CSV, DXF, LandXML).
• Supervise and train junior survey crew members (2-4 personnel).
• Support machine guidance operations for dozers, excavators, and grading equipment.
• Maintain daily field notes, logs, and reports for engineers and stakeholders.
