Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a Field Surveyor to support Louisiana Bridge Builders with precise field measurements, layout and QA/QC for roadway and bridge construction. You will operate GNSS, total stations, drones and level instruments to collect data and ensure alignment accuracy on active sites.

You will perform staking, data processing in Trimble/AutoCAD, and deliver as-built surveys while supervising 2–4 crew members. Safe work practices and strong communication across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• 5+ years of field surveying; roadway/bridge experience preferred.
• Knowledge of machine control models and staking.
• Proficient with AutoCAD or similar survey software; Trimble systems.
• Strong understanding of geodetic control and coordinate systems.
• Ability to interpret plans and alignments and work safely in active sites.
• Experience with GNSS workflows and robotic total stations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare as-built surveys, volume calculations, and digital deliverables.
• Supervise and train junior survey crew (2–4 people).
• Support machine guidance for dozers, excavators, and graders.
• Maintain field notes and reports for engineers and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Field Surveyor is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by providing precise field measurements, construction layout, and quality verification essential for roadway and bridge construction. This role ensures accurate topographic data, alignment control, and progress monitoring to support construction crews, subcontractors, and project engineers.

Job Description

1. Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction surveys for roadway alignments, bridge foundations, slopes, elevations, and cross-sections.
2. Operate GNSS receivers, total stations, levels, and drones to collect accurate field data.
3. Perform construction layout and stakeout for earthwork, structures, utilities, and roadway features.
4. Monitor construction progress and verify compliance with plans, specifications, and right‑of‑way limits.
5. Perform QA/QC checks on survey data, resolve discrepancies in real time, and maintain survey control networks.
6. Process survey data using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, or equivalent software.
7. Prepare as-built surveys, volume calculations, and digital deliverables (CSV, DXF, LandXML).
8. Supervise and train junior survey crew members (2–4 personnel).
9. Support machine guidance operations for dozers, excavators, and grading equipment.
10. Maintain daily field notes, logs, and reports for engineers and project stakeholders.
11. Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies

• At a minimum, the Field Surveyor must have a valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Experience of minimum of 5+ years of field surveying; roadway, bridge, or heavy civil construction project experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of machine control models, construction staking, and proficiency with AutoCAD or similar survey processing software.
• Strong understanding of geodetic control, coordinate systems, and transformations.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans, roadway alignments, and bridge layout drawings.
• Proficiency with Trimble systems (R750, TSC7), GNSS workflows, and robotic total stations.
• Ability to work safely in active construction zones and rugged outdoor environments.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with construction crews, subcontractors, and engineers.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily survey tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to changing field conditions and project priorities.
