Job summary

MEB General Contractors, Inc. in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia is seeking a field survey technician. You will run total stations, GNSS receivers, and data collectors, performing layout, stakeout, and as-built data collection under the Survey Crew Chief’s direction.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of field or survey experience, or time as a rodman
• Ability to set up and operate total stations, GNSS receivers, and data collectors
• Read plans and translate them to ground points
• Comfort with survey software and checking own work before submission
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
• OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 a plus
• High school diploma or GED; geomatics coursework a plus

Responsibilities

• Operate and configure total stations, GNSS receivers, and data collectors
• Perform field layout, stakeout, and as-built data collection under supervision
• Run vertical and horizontal layout and establish control points
• Process data with survey software and check for accuracy
• Maintain and care for instruments and equipment
• Travel between project sites across the assigned region
• Report hazards and escalate questions to the Survey Crew Chief
