Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified full-time Survey Field Technician in our Christiansburg, VA office to work with a survey crew chief in the field, collecting data to support design activities, boundary surveying, providing sketches, and layout for construction.

The role requires operating GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectors, organizing equipment, and maintaining safety and quality standards while delivering reliable field data.

Qualifications

• Ability to work under guidance of a survey crew chief
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving history
• OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid or willingness to acquire
• Ability to perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence
• Basic “office suite” computer skills

Responsibilities

• Collect data in the field to support design activities
• Perform boundary surveying, construction staking, ALTA, and topography for various project types
• Organize survey truck, survey equipment and supplies as necessary
• Operate GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectors
• Transfer files between data collectors and internal project folders
• Maintain productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
• Adhere to Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies
• Lead by example with sound judgment, values, trust and professionalism
