Job summary

AKS is seeking a Survey Field Technician to join our field team in Washington. You will work with project surveyors, field crews, engineers, and managers on a variety of public and private projects.

This entry-level opportunity is designed to learn on the job and advance with a collaborative, hands-on team. You will start early (6:00 a.m.), perform physically demanding tasks, and receive training on survey tools, GPS gear, and data collection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have valid OR or WA driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Must pass a urinalysis drug screening.
• Willingness to start work at 6:00 a.m. and work overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
• Strong focus on safety and adherence to safety protocols.
• Team-oriented with ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Do what needs to be done mindset and take ownership to keep projects running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Perform physically demanding work including packing heavy survey equipment, pounding hubs, and clearing brush.
• Receive hands-on training in survey instruments, automated data collection tools, GPS equipment, calculators, and other gear.
• Operate Trimble Robotic Total Stations, GN22 Receivers, and TSC5 Data collectors.
• Support data collection efforts using unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
• Follow all safety protocols, including AKS standards and state/federal regulations.
• Work in adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain.
• Occasionally travel out of town/overnight when needed.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, forest engineering, geomatics, or related field
