Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a field surveying assistant to support a crew on boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will operate survey instruments and help collect geospatial data in diverse field conditions while assisting a Crew Chief.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and at least one year of industry experience. The role requires outdoor work and occasional travel to project locations with per diem benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid, current driver’s license required.
• One year industry experience preferred.
• Minimum knowledge of land surveying practices and basic survey computations.
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support a field crew using land survey instruments to gather data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
• Assist in completing field surveys under supervision; communicate progress and issues.
• Operate survey equipment such as robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios, scanners, levels.
• Collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
• Read maps and plans; maintain neat field notes with accurate measurements.
