Job summary

SAM is seeking a Field Survey Assistant in Atlanta to support field crews across boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. You will operate surveying instruments, record precise field notes, and assist with data collection under a Crew Chief’s guidance.

The role requires a High School diploma (or equivalent), at least one year of industry experience, and willingness to travel. Outdoor work in varying weather is expected, with driving responsibilities and equipment handling included.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year industry experience.
  • Knowledge of land surveying practices and basic survey computations.
  • Able to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions and environments.
  • Willing to travel/stay out of town for work as needed.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Support field crew in data gathering for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Assist in completion of field surveys under supervision of Crew Chief.
  • Operate land survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, levels.
  • Use survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform survey computations.
  • Read and interpret maps and plans.
  • Maintain neat field notes with accurate measurements under supervision.
  • Load and unload trucks with survey equipment and supplies.
  • Clean and maintain land survey equipment, tools, and vehicle.
  • Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices.
