Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is a nationwide geospatial leader seeking a Survey Technician/Instrument Operator for construction staking in Houston, TX. The role supports field crews using a range of surveying instruments to collect data for boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.

You will assist in field surveys under a Crew Chief, operate robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, 3D laser scanners, and other equipment, and responsibilities include precise field notes, data

Qualifications

• One year industry experience
• Knowledge of land surveying practices and basic survey types
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather
• Willingness to travel/stay out of town for work
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet MVR standards

Responsibilities

• Use survey instruments to support field crew for boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys.
• Assist field surveys under Crew Chief supervision; communicate progress and address problems.
• Operate surveying equipment (robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, 3D laser scanners, levels).
• Use survey controllers and software to collect geospatial data and perform calculations.
• Read and interpret maps and plans.
• Record neat field notes with accurate measurements under supervision.
• Load and unload trucks with survey equipment and supplies.
• Clean and maintain survey equipment, tools, and vehicle.
• Follow company safety procedures, policies, and practices
