Job summary

Southern Company seeks a Survey Technician for Civil Field Services to perform fieldwork with total stations, GPS, and levels. The role requires extensive overnight travel in AL, GA, and MS, plus a 10-hour/4-day week (Mon–Thu) with occasional overtime.

Location options include Calera or Vincent, Alabama, with relocation assistance possible. You will collect survey data, verify construction layouts, troubleshoot equipment, and report technical data.

Qualifications

• Land and topographic surveys using GPS or conventional total station equipment.
• Construction layout surveys.
• Locating and running control to project area.
• Processing and downloading data. Providing data to analyst for mapping.
• Training of less experienced crew personnel.

Responsibilities

• Collection of survey data in the field using a total station, level or GPS equipment.
• Construction verification oversight for assigned construction projects.
• Troubleshooting equipment problems in the field.
• Accurate recording and reporting of technical data as it pertains to survey.
